2023 Wind Band Christmas Music Flash Mob Event

publish date : 2023-12-20
In support of the year-end Thanksgiving activities and to create a Christmas atmosphere, the CPU student wind band spontaneously organized a Christmas flash mob event at 10 a.m. on December 12, 2023, in the atrium of the main building. Twenty-two members performed two pieces, 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' and 'Christmas Isn't Christmas Without a Little Rock,' using instruments such as flutes, tubas, trombones, French horns, piccolos, saxophones, trumpets, and percussion.

As the bell rang signaling the end of classes, members of the band approached the atrium from different sides of the building. The melodious and lively music, coupled with relaxed and harmonious steps, drew the attention of onlookers. Besides the teachers and students who stopped to watch, the president and faculty members from all levels spared time to join, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Encircled by Christmas melodies, they played the opening notes for the evening's year-end Thanksgiving concert.

Distinguished from their usual static performances, the wind band, in this instance, underwent detailed planning and intensive training in marching, turning, and dancing to display various styles. Embracing the 'flash mob' theme removed the pressure of formality, allowing a simple and relaxed way to infuse the school with the spirit of Christmas, offering a different experience beyond academics for both teachers and students.
