CPU dissemination of “Save Yourself, Save Others.”

The Cadet Corps promoted dissemination of “Fire Prevention” and “Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training” on April 12, 2021. In order to follow the COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all participants were required to measure body temperature before entering, wear face masks and their seats were rearranged according to the required social distance during the event.
The dissemination was held in the way of speeches, which was given by the two-year-undergraduate program cadets---YANG, SHI-TING and DAI, ZHI-YI, respectively. YANG shared the knowledge of fire prevention with his profound experiences and DAI lectured the procedures of CPR and AED which the general public can perform.
First, cadet YANG introduced various fire accidents, different fire extinguishers and their method of application, as well as the correct way to use AC power plugs and sockets and extension cord. He emphasized the important survival tips such as ”close the door to prevent the fire from spreading” and “evacuate downwards, otherwise stay in the room with door closed“. He gave the audiences the correct fire preventing knowledge that covers the fire safety of the electric devices to strengthen their abilities so as to save themselves by the simulated tutorial video.
In the second part of the dissemination, cadet DAI introduced the correct CPR and AED steps. He also made some of the audiences come up on the stage to practice by themselves and get familiar with the process and technique.
Lastly, the Cadet Deputy Commander in Chief ---WU, BO-YU addressed to the audiences the ability to save themselves or help others to enhance the survival probability in the future. It is inevitable to face all sorts of life threatening crisis and danger , “The more we know, the safer we can be”, WU encouraged students to put theory into practice as well.
Moreover, the Cadet Corps also set up the “Resusci Anne” (a.k.a. Rescue Anne, Resusci Annie, CPR Annie, Resuscitation Annie, Little Annie, or CPR Doll) in the Student Activities Center to provide faculty members, staff and cadets the opportunity to perform CPR practice, and give the mask of “Star of Life” as a gift for participants during the promoting period.
