On March 21th, 2016, CPU held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new student dormitory buildings. President Tiao, Chien-sheng first appreciated the notable guests, such as Taoyuan County mayor Jheng, Wun-Can, New Taipei City deputy mayor Hou You-Yi, city councilor Lin, Jheng-Fong and Yang, Jin-Fu for attending the ceremony and showing them sincere welcome.

The construction project of new student dormitory buildings was submitted during the period of President Hou You-Yi, now deputy mayor of New Taipei City. On August 21th, 2008, Executive Yuan passed the “Ministry of the Interior Year 98-101 medium-term policy plan,” in which, the student dormitory is one of its subprojects and the full budget implementation plan was admitted on April 12th, 2013.

CPU student dormitory buildings turned the basketball and tennis court, about 4,200 sq. feet, into two six- floor buildings, one basement and five floors, in a total of 15,761 square meters and 403 million dollars funds. The buildings will be build under the green building concepts. CPU planed to process the project with the following goals: ecological greening, three-dimensional greening, water conservation, waste reduction and so on. The basement is used as an air shelter, legal parking space and electrical and mechanical space; from the first to the fifth floor there are administrative offices, conference rooms, indoor collection field, photocopying process chambers, student dormitory (96 rooms in building A and 86 rooms in building B), study rooms, small sport rooms, storage rooms, recreation space, and clothesline space to meet the students’ needs in daily life and fulfill other goals such as : ( A ) meet the accommodation needs, ( B ) improve training facilities and learning effectiveness, ( C ) coordinate the overall planning to increase capacity and training space, ( D ) make the dormitory configuration to be in line with the gender ratio, and ( E ) fulfill life education and strengthen spiritual connotation.

President Tiao pointed out that in response to the domestic and international situation changes, the old student dormitory is not suitable anymore. It is necessary to update both the software and hardware facilities of education, and thoughts of spiritual and living education in order to accelerate the effect of promoting education. In the hope of constructing a better educational environment so as to enhance learning effectiveness by building the student dormitory, coordinating the overall planning, increasing the capacity and training space, improving the environment and life quality of accommodation; and at the same time implementing life education, developing student neat and clean, simple and plain good habits, cultivating high-quality police enforcement cadres.

In addition, President Tiao thanked Deputy Mayor Hou You-Yi for striving for funds when he was in charge of CPU president period. Three major projects including the investigation and forensic science technology building project was completed and opened on April 10th, 2016, shooting range building project is expected to be completed and open in the second half this year, and today 's groundbreaking student dormitory building is scheduled for completion within two years President Tiao also appreciated Taoyuan County Mayor, Jheng, Wun-Can and his team for helping CPU to obtain the Construction Permits of the shooting range building and student dormitory building.

Finally, President Tiao, attending notable guests, CPU faculty and student representatives held groundbreaking ceremony for the construction together.
