The 10th Seminar of Police Study of Cross-Strait Regions and Hong Kong, Macau
“The 10th Seminar of Police Study of Cross-Strait Regions and Hong Kong, Macau” took place in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Taipei on October 13th and 14th, 2015. The purpose of this seminar is to create a platform of police study and exchanges for practical affairs between the cross-strait regions in the aim to promote the cooperation of police affairs and reinforce the result of joint fight against crime. The 1st seminar formally took place in Shanghai on 2006; The 4th seminar took place in Taipei on 2009. In the same year, the cross-strait also signed “Cross-Strait Joint Fight against Crime and Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement” with profound historical meaning.
Seminar attendees are 223 in total, including 53 participants from China, 28 participants from Hong Kong, 33 participants from Macau, and 109 participants from Taiwan. The police commissioners from 4 regions all attended this Seminar, which shows their high expectation.
The topic of this seminar is entitled “The Novel Cross-Border Crime Management and Police Affair Cooperation”, separated into seven sessions with 29 oral presentations. The title of each session is as followed, “The Strategy of Cross-Border Internet Crime Management”, “ The Cross-Strait Joint Fight against Crime and Judicial Cooperation Agreement” conducting result and prospect, “The Nobel Food Product, Drug Crime and Reflection of Relevant Laws”, “The Cross-Strait Cooperation of Law Enforcement and Fight against Human Trafficking”, “The Fight and Strategy against Crimes of Cross-Border Economy and Telecom Fraud”, “Comparison of Auxiliary Police System and Cooperation of Police Affair Training between cross-strait 4 regions”, “Brand-New strategy against Cross-Border Crime and Prospect of Police Study Seminar”. Proceedings collected 53 papers with appropriate relation to each topics of seminar. There were 30 papers contributed from Taiwan, 38 papers from Mainland China, 9 papers from Hong Kong, 5 papers from Macau, in total of 82 papers.
The participated experts all agreed that the cross-strait 4 need to reinforce the width and method of joint fight against crime and judicial cooperation; Meanwhile reaching to the profound conversation and exchanges in the field of cross-border economy, telecom fraud and internet crime. Evenpossibility of constructing the cross-strait police affair cooperation system is being discussed, which is an important issue we are facing in the near future.
Hopefully, the cross-strait 4 regions can strengthen their exchanges and cooperation and lift the joint fight against crime and judicial cooperation into another brand-new level.
