The 2014 Spring Semester Teaching Seminar was held on February 19th, 2014. 162 full-time and part-time teachers participated in this event.

The seminar was started with new President Diao's speech, which emphasized on the main purpose of such event was to uphold the core value of our school, and to reach a consensus of pedagogies.

Dr. Chen De Hua, the Political Deputy Minister of Education was invited as the keynote speaker. Minister Chen outlined our higher education in the past 40 years of development, from elite to ubiquitous, During the years of development in higher education, Ministry of Education has changed its system to a more open and competitive one. The core value of universities also changed from pursuing fair value towards the pursuing of diversities, from the domination of researching towards emphasizing on teaching, forming a closer relationship among the higher education, the society, and the industries.

Deputy Minister Chen said that through the international trends, he found the following phenomenon existing in today’s college: information has changeds in digital learning type; enhancement of employability has become the focus of universities’ personnel training; and a closer relationship among the global learning and industry interactions. Due to the various changes over time, the function of university education’s has transformed gradually. Universities hoped to be more flexible so as to bringing more diversified performance and characteristics of development into play. However, universities must also be able to do their self-accountability in order to gain greater trust of society.

Led by President Diao, an informal face-to-face discussion with school faculties was held after Deputy Minister Chen’s splendid speech. President Diao also took this chance to emphasize the importance of communicating with the participants is very meaningful.
