2013 Newbie Returning Colloquia
For raising the discipline of police and heartening the morale of police officers and enhancing the service quality, CPU held "Newbie Returning Colloquia" with the purpose of "Creating a team of honest and effectiveness.", "Do not forget the core value of CPU" since 2010.
The event was held on Sep. 5th and 6th, topics like "Academic Discussion", "CPU's Core Value, Thought and Trend", and "The practical experience passing on" were included. This event provided an opportunity to think over CPU's motto and also reflect the CPU's motto "Honesty" and the core value "Country, Justice, Honor". Directors and teachers from different departments were invited to talk with alumni.
We especially invited Director of Department of Civil Service Ethics, Ministry of the Interior Jing-Chien Wang to deliver a talk entitled "The honest concept and discipline attainment that police officer must have." Through using practical examples, introduction to the honest code of ethnics in the field of civil service to let the ideas of "concept of honest" and "norms of law" profoundly rooted in newbie's mind.
President Hsieh, Hsiu-Neng gave an speech on "Persistence in Contemporary Police Duties" to share his experience of being a police officer with everyone. President Hsieh stressed that each police officer must learn how to face the ever-altering environment, and the only one unchanging principle is "change", in which what particularly relevant to police is "globalization". Flow of people, logistics, and cash movements, climate changing, attitude changing, technological advances, lifelong learning, crisis management, security of secret service, the force of civic, mass activities, discipline problem and the rule of ABC(Attitude, Behavior, Competence) with 6C(Change and Complexity, Competition, Customers, Computerize and Communication, Creative)were made.
In the end, President Hsieh encouraged each one to do their best and manage and adjust their emotion even though undertakes great pressure. He shared three phrases with newbies: "Do everything to the best of your ability", "The opportunity will find you." and "Success will follow you". After the two-day newbie returning to school, all 771 brigade students have reaped fruitfully and rewardingly.
