Celebrating Central Police University 76 Years of Excellence with Minister of the Interior

On September 1, 2012, the 76th anniversary ceremony of Central Police University was presided over by Minister of the Interior, Hong-yuan Lee with the 1500 attendees including many honorable guests, students and faculty members.
During his remark, the Minister noted that Central Police University has been working on the improvement of teaching software and hardware, as well as promotion of teaching quality in recent years, which helps maintain public safety significantly. Minister Lee also congratulated Mr. Ming-Zhen Huang along with other 8 awarded distinguished alumni, and wished the junior alumni would look up to them and devote themselves for our country.
Due to the change of international trends, the police duties are changed, and the police professions became more diverse. Besides the basic police qualification, students also need to learn from more aspects. Minister especially encouraged all faculties to enrich themselves, imparting new concepts and methods, so that cadets can improve themselves in other fields than policing, fire fighting, immigration, coast guard, correction duties and so on. Then Minister appreciated new freshmen for choosing Central Police University to serve the public over those renowned universities such as National Taiwan University or National Tsing Hua University. He especially encouraged students to cherish their time as students and enrich themselves.
Furthermore, the Minister expressed that improving the public security is one of the priorities of the government. The current public security duties are extremely difficult and require a high level of professionalism, including routine daily duty, the enforcement of driving under the influence laws, international crime prevention, and criminalistics. In addition, the Minister mentioned that for fire fighters professional skills, disaster prevention and management is more important than rescue. The Minister noted that although he specializes in disaster prevention, there are still a lot more knowledge to learn. He particularly emphasized the importance of setting up Geographic Information System (GIS). Ministry Of The Interior integrates more than just graphical information, police policy, firefighting, census data, potential disasters, are also included. The system's next step is "data mining".
The Minister said that being a public servant, various types of statistical data are proposed, which explain the status and help us to move to the next step. Based on "Data Mining" and "Decision Supporting System", we formulated an operation that makes policing, fire fighting and immigrant work more systematic, professional and effective.
In the end, the Minister urged all the faculty members and students that establishing an incorruptible government is the current core of policy. Furthermore, he hoped every student can obey the principle of integrity. After all, as intellectuals, law enforcement officials, we should firmly believe this faith. If we can not promise that, no matter how many specialties we have it will be useless. Meanwhile, he reminded all the faculty members and students to improve the quality of education and learning to make every work in public security more complete, efficient, and professional. Therefore the country can maintain a long-term stability.
