Mr. Ou Jin De, the President of Taiwan High Speed Rail Consortium was invited to give a speech on "Environment Caring - the Future of Taiwan." During the speech, Mr. Ou pointed out both domestic and international natural disasters, such as the earthquake in Northeastern Japan, hurricane Katrina in the USA, the Wenchuan Earthquake in mainland China, and the 921 earthquake in Taiwan. Also he carefully explained the threats we are facing in the living environment.

Mr. Ou mentioned that, according to the 2005 Natural Disaster Hotspots: a Global Risk Analysis by the World Bank, Taiwan had been evaluated as the most dangerous place where disasters may happen in anytime. The report also reminded all citizens in Taiwan to pay more attention and make the development plans with higher vision in order to build a better global village for living. In the end, Mr. Ou encouraged all the school members to respect the nature, cherish our land and resources and improve the environment with pragmatic way.
