CPU Graduates Completed Substitute Service Training in Cheng Kung Ling.

Graduates of the Central Police University (CPU) and the Taiwan Police Academy (TPA) are required by law to receive the general substitute service in order to fulfill their military service obligations. Therefore, the National Conscription Agency of the Ministry of Interior hold the 212th-batched training in Cheng Kung Ling, Taichung City from June 16th (Tuesday) to 30th (Tuesday). The closing ceremony was personally hosted by Minister of the Ministry of Interior, Hsu, Kuo-Yung, to cheer for these substitute civilian servicemen.

A total of 895 substitute civilian servicemen are from the graduates of CPU and TPA. Due to COVID-19, 14 squadrons were formed to reduce the risk of cluster infection and complete the training successfully. 164 CPU graduates were divided into 4 squadrons to receive basic military training for 2 weeks. On behalf of CPU, the representatives of the Department of Student Affairs and Student Corps visited the substitute training class on Monday, June 22nd, 2020. They encouraged all the graduates not only to uphold the core values of “honesty” and “nation, justice, honor” but also to persist on discipline and compassion to serve the public, to achieve the goals of "serving the people, administrating according to the law", "maintaining public order and protecting human rights", and "being incorruptible and self-controlled, being diligent and sociable" after the training.

In this batch, the military training courses are practical, lively and diversified. These substitute servicemen have to take courses in adjustment education, substitute service law, emergency rescue, exploration training and physical fitness activities. Professionals are employed as lecturers to enhance their intellectual minds, strengthen their bodies and lay the good foundation of serving. Due to COVID-19, the singing contest was replaced by the creative poster competition for epidemic prevention propaganda. The concept of the new life of epidemic prevention was publicized and delivered to these trained servicemen. The training was concluded on Tuesday, June 30th 2020, and was presided over by Minister Hsu. He encouraged these graduates to have a sacred mission in combating crime and maintaining public order. They must remember to assure their own safety during the action of enforcing the law. Finally, the squadrons of CPU won first and second place in the contest and earned 4 hours of honorary leave, which is a perfect ending of the training.
